Captain Bartholomew Quasar: Starfaring Adventures by Milo James Fowler

April 30, 2018 Charla Review - Submitted

Captain Bartholomew Quasar, Starfaring Adventures by Milo James Fowler is a collection of short stories focusing on the life and times of Captain Bartholomew Quasar and his crew.  The stories center around the Captain and his antics as he encounters space pirates, aliens, ghosts, and so much more!  The stories are very short and fun – this is a spoof of Star Trek (the series from the 60’s) and the movie Galaxy Quest.  Fun, light yet intriguing.  A perfect listen after a hard day!

E.M. Carberry performed the audiobook keeping the tone light, energetic and fun!  Much like the story, the narrator was appropriately campy as well.  How he was able to deliver some of the lines without cracking up, I’m not sure but he was a true professional!

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook.

A wonderful book if you need some fun, campy entertainment.  Guaranteed to move you to laughter!

A Knight’s Love: Medieval Time Travel Romance (Campbell Brothers Book 2) by Ju Ephraime

April 18, 2018 Charla Review - Submitted

Three brothers gifted with formidable supernatural like powers find themselves struggling to stay out of a clan war with their neighbors when the MacDougal Clan breaks into their castle and tries to abduct the child and wife of the Laird. One of the brothers, previously a Knight of the Templar, finds himself distracted by a woman –but he has a mission, can he finish it without distraction?

Set in medieval England during the time of Robert The Bruce and the Knights of the Templar, this action-packed historical romance is captivating.  The action is exciting as is the romance.  One cannot help but fall in love with the three brothers while cheering on their feisty ladies!

Ju Ephraime has written a captivating tale with strong characters and a strong plot.  One cannot help but connect with the characters and become lost in the vivid descriptions.  A powerful wordsmith, Ephraime has created a world that is both fascinating and enthralling.  Magic mixed with action and history.

This is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone and not be lost.  Ephraime pays attention to detail and does not stray from her plot.  I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance, magic and historical novels.

A wonderful book that is entertaining and engaging.
