OMG! Not only have I chewed my gorgeously long nails down to their quick, but while driving into work listening to this book, I missed my turn not once but twice this morning! Nicholas Sansbury Smith and Anthony Melchiorri deliver powerful twists one after another in such shocking and powerful ways that one is completely blindsided!
Captain Beck and Master Sergeant Horn are once again fighting the variants along with a new, smarter and deadlier foe – human collaborators. Determined to save the Allied States, President Ringgold and her political opponent must join forces to change the tide of the variant war they believed was over. Team Ghost must recover vital electronic equipment that Kate Lovato needs to decipher a new and highly disturbing development. In true Sansbury Smith fashion, this is a story that will have you holding your breath and leave your head reeling with revelations and surprises.
Sansbury Smith and Melchiorri continue to captivate listeners with his masterful storytelling and powerfully vivid details and dialog. Although it could be listened to as a standalone, you will want to hear the entire series!
R.C. Bray is amazing as a narrator! He has assumed the characters in this series and projects them vividly and without hesitation. His narration skills are outstanding. His voice and ability to surprise the listener with an upcoming twist in the storyline is potent. His voice reflects the personality and character traits of each character with authority. I can’t imagine an Extinction book without him!

A mesmerizing tale of a young man’s struggles to step outside the life he has known and move into a new, more exciting one. Winning a college scholarship designated for members of the LGBTQ community, Taylor agrees to become an activist. The long since deceased founder of the scholarship returns to haunt Taylor whenever he fails to live up to the agreement.
Moving the story between two time periods, Peter Difatta tells of the struggles that many face from those of small towns, the religiously small-minded folks, and bullies who are against anyone different from themselves. Difatta intentionally creates the story and carefully builds his characters and situations to tell the story of injustices, being ethical and moral, and humane.
The dialog is definitely “Southern” and realistic. Not only is the dialog realistic but so is most of the story; other than the paranormal twist to it, I would dare say authentic and powerful. The meanness, the fears, the small-mindedness are all daily headlines and reminders of our failures as humans. It is through Difatta’s skillful writing and storytelling that the listener stays engaged and engrossed. This is not an audiobook that one can listen to a little at a time, it is one that you will want to listen to from beginning to end because you just have to know what’s next!
I have not had the pleasure of hearing Keith McCarthy, narrator, before. I enjoyed his narration and voices. His enthusiasm and emotions were accurate and carried the story forward. I would enjoy hearing McCarthy again. His voice is soothing and versatile.

There are other colorful characters that play pivotal roles, but one will come to love Luther and Monty the most!
David Schaub and Roger Vizard have created a wonderfully fun story. They are colorful in their storytelling and character development is spot on – the characters are so well developed and portrayed by a full cast of narrators, that one cannot help but visualize them. Creative and action-packed!
I am delighted to have been asked to review this audiobook. I grew up around westerns, comedies and love all things with a paranormal twist to it.
The audiobook is fully animated but not over the top. The production and audio quality of this audiobook are perfect!
