Hell Divers VI: Allegiance (The Hell Divers Series Book 6) by Nicholas Sansbury Smith

November 5, 2019 Charla Review - Submitted

Hell Divers VI Allegiance by Nicholas Sansbury Smith is a non-stop action-adventure.  King X finds himself trying to maintain peace between his Sky People and the Cazadores.  The tenuous peace between the two peoples is in jeopardy.  There are things happening outside the islands that are sure to break the peace as the monsters and other humans add fuel to the impending fire.  To save humanity they must dive yet once again.

Smith has an amazing ability to tell a story.  One cannot help but visualize the story as it is being read, Smith uses words like an artist uses paint to tell a story.  Each character, no matter how small is realistic and plays a role in the story, in other words, he respects his readers enough to not “fill a word quota.”

Hell Divers VI continues the story of King X, once a Hell Diver himself, and his fight to keep humanity growing and safe.  It is X’s realization in the last few pages that speaks volumes and demonstrates just how poignant this series is from beginning to end.

It is truly difficult to put this book down once you start it. Smith has a knack for drawing in his readers and not letting up until the last word is read and even then, his words will stay with you until you understand the reason for … the Skinwalkers, Captain Santiago, and more.  So vivid is Smith in his descriptions that you might find yourself with some major scary characters in your nightmares!

As always, with Nicholas Sansbury Smith’s books, I loved it.  His characters are human, realistic and downright scary.  He is thorough in his writing.  If you love post-apocalyptic stories, this is one of several of his series you cannot help but become enmeshed in.  “We dive so humanity can survive!”
