We all know the story of Cinderella, but the author Gina LoBiondo gives it a nice twist. It is a love story with several different levels – the love of a daughter for her mother, father, and her true love. While Ella is given the gift of attending the ball, it is not with the typical “fairy god-mother” but rather another that she holds dear to her heart. LoBiondo includes others in the plan to unite Ella and Prince Andrew making the story unique and engaging.
LoBiondo plays on the established stereotypical behavior of each character but puts a slight twist on it. While the stepmother is still a vile and evil woman, we see the sisters slightly different by the end of the book.
This is a very short book, but LoBiondo effectively weaves in the twists and gives her audience a different view of Ella. While this still has a happy ending, it has far more depth than most.
The illustrations by Donna Sterpe are well done and appropriate for the age group, however, this story can be enjoyed by all ages. LoBiondo gives her audience a fresh look into the Cinderella story.

The Moonstoners is a moving book that touches on difficult issues in a clear yet humanistic manner. Noel Trudeau is a young woman who has secrets. Secrets that marred her as a child and that continue to influence and affect her well into adulthood. Two men, brothers who love the same woman, both with their own demons, and a country struggling through racism, violence, and the death of JFK.
This is a moving book – you will laugh, cry and so much more with the turn of each page. Noel is drawn to Ricky but ultimately it is Leon that stirs her heart. Leon rescues her and Ricky from Noel’s violent and abusive ex-husband only to find himself lost deeply in love with her. Their love is a forbidden love that will tear a family apart.
This is a well-written book that explores tensions of the time period, fears, and love. The characters are well developed and meaningful. Each character is important to the story and moves the story along at a steady pace. The revealing of the secrets Noel has endured and carried with her for a lifetime is well written.
I felt the pain, hurt, love, and fear of each character with each passing page. Descriptions are vivid and the dialog is realistic. The story moved at a steady pace and the plot and twists kept my attention. The ending was well executed leaving me with a desire to see their story to the end.
I look forward to reading the next book.

Imagine being in love with your soul mate and everyone in your world knows it. Then waking up the next morning only to discover your world is no more; everything has changed; everyone is … just gone. Laney and her twin, Leela, travel to a distant place to try to set things right and rescue their friends/family but to do so means traveling in the light, a powerful and dangerous journey with a most uncertain outcome! The girls are faced with serious consequences as they move forward with their plan, it becomes clear that not everyone will be coming home.
Rachel Langley, the author, weaves a delicate story of love and compassion, intrigue and betrayal, and morality. The dialog, action, emotions are all genuinely young adult and realistic. Langley builds each character slowly with detail both physically and emotionally. There were a few twists that made the story more moving and exciting. The story, the characters all flowed smoothly. I liked the way in which we heard from both of the twins – seeing their perspective was satisfying.
The narrator, Jelyne Helms performed the audiobook wonderfully. Her voices were realistic and comforting – just the perfect pitch and tone for each character. She read the book comfortably and seemed very familiar with it. Her tone and inflection gave weight to her characters sounding appropriate ages. Plus she captured the personality of Leela and Laney perfectly.
There was only one small minor glitch in the publication. Otherwise, the production quality of this audiobook was top-notch.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Struck. I hope to hear the second part of this series. I want to see how things play out. The cliffhanger was perfectly timed and presented.

I have read a couple of Lorraine Devon Wilke’s books and found each one to be unique. The Alchemy of Noise was not what I expected. With each page I found myself becoming more and more intrigued. Then I had to step back for a minute and see the much larger picture she was painting with her words. Emotionally wrenching, The Alchemy of Noise takes relationships one step further than most bringing in racism. The fine line Wilke walks in this book is amazing – telling her story through fiction yet still relaying the heart-wrenching truth of her relationship.
I read in fascination seeing a lot of my family and self in the comments, actions and such leaving me wondering whether I was prepared to help raise my two grandsons of mixed race. This book brought home the truths and solidified my concerns for my grandsons in a world where tolerance is non-existent.
Well written and developed, Wilke has communicated the fears, doubts and being human in a world where intolerance of difference is rampant, where being humane is not extended to those who are different.
This is not a light book, it is one that will stick with you for weeks if not longer. I finished this book about three weeks ago and just now sat down to write the review. Having come from a family from the deepest part of Indiana where racism runs unchecked and fueled by the past, I still feel the impact of this story.

Houseman will have you snorting out loud, laughing uncontrollably with her sassy, snarky sense of humor. Houseman has developed a captivating group of characters and intertwined them so very delicately. Her down to earth writing, sense of humor and ability to plot twist makes her unique.

Melissa works for Lee; Lee basically ignores Melissa until one day he doesn’t. That’s when the trouble begins. Lee cannot stay away from Melissa; Melissa realizes that her love for Lee knows no boundaries. Now they just have to make it work.
Linda Hopkins writes a well-developed paranormal romance story with characters that are believable and a story and dialog that flows smoothly. Hopkins does not “gloss” over anything and handles a touchy situation very professionally. Her characters are strong and richly cultivated.
There were at least a couple of places where I wanted to grab Melissa and shake her but … that is what makes this book good – the reader connects.
If you enjoy paranormal romance with adventure and danger, Moondance is the one to read!

The Forsaken Queen is a historical romance novel about one woman’s survival against evil tyranny. Isabella, Queen of England, finds herself facing yet another favorite of her husband, King Edward the II. The Despensers vie to overthrow the influence of Queen Isabella and manage to confiscate her property with Edward’s blessing. Isabella is not one to take things complacently thus begins her tale of deceit, honor, love, and war to save herself, England and her children from the merciless Despensers and her weak husband, Edward.
The Forsaken Queen is about a strong woman who loves her children, her country – both her birth and adopted, finds true love in the arms of a strong man, and defeats the tyrannical evil doers before they destroy England.
If you enjoy historical books that have a mixture of romance and intrigue this is an excellent book. Author Susan Appleyard takes a historical figure and era carefully weaving her story around facts with creative dialog and reactions that captivates her readers. Appleyard enables her readers to see the Queen for the intelligent woman, fierce mother, protector and lover that she was historically known.
This was well written and well researched. The dialog was realistic and the characters were fully developed. Appleyard is skilled at taking historical information and constructing a strong creative dialog as well as creatively creating a connection between history and a storyline that enthralls her readers.
The Forsaken Queen will resonate well after the story ends. I look forward to reading more by Susan Appleyard!

Well written, Sorel details the story in an engaging manner and vividly describes the characters and their actions to perfection. The romance scenes are not overdone, rather they are written in a tasteful and realistic style. It is emotional and satisfying, yet describes accurately the doubts and struggles couples have in their relationships at times.
I enjoyed how each chapter identified who the voice was so the viewpoints were clear. It also allowed her audience a clearer view of each person. Sorel knows how to captivate her audience and provide an absorbing tale of love, sex, and relationships. Masterful storyteller, Sorel gives her audience what they want in a bewitching style.
